The CBC wants to know if I´m a terrorist
Also, I invented a new word for people stupid enough to believe CBC propaganda
It´s not everyday you get an email like the one I got today.
Apparently the CBC suspects me of involvement with a couple of major attacks on pipeline infrastructure in Northern B.C., and they were nice enough to reach out and ask me if I´m behind them. Seriously. A CBC employee named Rob Brown just asked me point blank if I was involved, or if I could put him in touch with the people that were. Wow.
This is the first of two emails:
Hi Anton,
Hope this message finds you well.
(Redacted name) gave me your address.
I'm a reporter with CBC News and I'm working on a story about the direct action that has been taken by the groups opposed to the Coastal Gaslink pipeline project.
Your name has come up and your background suggests you are familiar with some of the techniques that have been used in other conflicts.
I'm hoping to speak with you about that or alternatively, if you don't have access to a phone I could email you some questions.
Please let me know if you are up for that.
Regards,
Rob
They also released this infographic, which is laughably incomplete. I´m almost insulted.
They don´t even note Chief Dtsa´Hayl´s epic Jedi mission into the Klore, or that time the Likhts´amisyu decommissioned and seized all those excavators near their village. Do these ding-dongs even read Real Peoples Media?
Also, some cop cars got torched at some point, allegedly.
Now, personally, I don´t personally don´t see what they´re getting their panties in a knot about. Trudeau spent hundreds of billions of dollars wrapping the country in saran wrap and paying everyone top dollar to sit at home jerking off as their souls withered for two years. I don´t think they´ll miss a few cop cars.
I´m going to paraphrase Rick James here and say: FUCK YO´CAR, PIGGY! BUY ANOTHER ONE, YOU RICH MOTHERFUCKERS!
But really, this email does come at an interesting time. I recently wrote a serious of articles accusing a couple of obviously-fake conspiracy theorists Matthew Ehret and Cynthia Chung (of the Canadian Patriot Review) of being intelligence agents, and a week later I get this email. So let me get this straight. Right after I out a couple of spooks, I´m being investigated for terrorism by Canada´s state propaganda machine. Huh. Weird. Must be a coincidence.
I wonder if I should be worried? Did I just snitch on myself? Whoops. I assumed the fact that Canada had already put me up on bogus, trumped-up charges of ¨Assault Police with a Weapon¨ meant that they already suspected me of being some kind of ringleader. But maybe that whole business slipped their minds. If I was them, I sure wouldn´t want to remember it. The whole sham made them look like a bunch of fucking goofs.
I was acquitted on all charges, by the way, three lawyers and two trials later. I intend to write about the whole Kafkaesque farce at some point, but for now you can check out this interview with my third lawyer.
Well, what´s done is done and cannot be undone. It´s too late to go back in time now. I knew that I was taking a risk by exposing Ehret and Chung, but I wasn´t expecting this. It´s almost like they notified the RCMP that I may be person of interest in something naughty, and then the RCMP contacted the CBC and got one of their employees to invent a pretext to ask me questions in order to get information out of me. Now, I´m not saying that IS what happened, but it kind of seems like that´s what happened, doesn´t it?
Yeah, I´m not going to worry too much about this, I don´t think. These people are obviously not the brightest bulbs in the chandelier. Plus, given the fact that the fuckwits over at the RCMP have yet to make a single arrest in any of the dozens of church burnings over the past few years, and the fact that they couldn´t even get their star witness to testify against me, I think I´m good.
But, hey, it´s not everyday a major news corporation wants to interview you. Why not have some fun with this?
I decided to write them back:
Hi!
I would consider speaking with you, but you do know who I am, right? I find it unlikely that the CBC would offer me free air time. Obviously Im going to want to talk about FIPPA, and I highly doubt the CBC will let you tell the truth about that. Jorge Barrera wasted a whole bunch of my time doing an interview that never aired. If youre talking to him, tell him I want my documents back.
You can check out some of my recent writings here:
I call your attention also to this follow-up piece, in which I talk more about FIPPA:
But anyway, yes if you are sincere in your desire to understand things, I would be willing to answer some questions. I dont own a phone or computer, but I can answer written questions. Id also appreciate it if you could send me a few articles that you are think are reflective of your work.
I should point out up front that Im guessing that you just want to portray me as an agitator, which could serve my purposes nicely if I play my cards right. Ill give you all the ammo to portray me as a dangerous fanatic, if you want. I could use some free publicity. Just keep in mind that if you put out blatant falsehoods, it will probably backfire on you. And if you portray things accurately, it will be to my advantage.
So fire away! Thanks for reaching out!
Anton
p.s. If you want to do a hit piece, just dig around my blog a bit. You can also check out the Nevermore website at nevermore.media. Youll find everything you need there to outrage the smuggles.
Smuggles is a word I just invented, by the way. It means ¨people who are dumb enough to believe CBC propaganda¨. The smug part refers to the insufferable Canadian attitude of smugness, which comes from believing the propaganda taught in Canadian grade schools. All Canadians are taught (in a polite, smug way) that we are superior to Americans because of reasons and stuff. They were the naughty child, and had a naughty revolution, and they´re bad, whereas we were the good child, and we can beat them in hockey. Plus they´re racist and they like guns way too much because they have small dicks or something. The muggle part is self-explanatory, I think, and refers to a lack of imagination. There aren´t any good slurs for Canadians, so I feel like this word could catch on, especially if we promote it to those racist, gun-toting simpletons down South.
Hi Anton,
Thanks for the reply.
Jorge tells me he will be sending you those documents this week.
It can be tricky trying to read tone into email.
So, not sure if you're leaning on a bit of sarcasm in your reply or not.
I'll be more specific in what I am trying to learn about and you can let me know if you're interested in engaging or not.
No worries either way.
The one year anniversary of the attack on the CGL worksite is next week:
https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/british-columbia/coastal-gaslink-suspect-video-1.6360949
Police suspect some of those involved were from outside the local community and may have ties to the anarchist movement in Canada.
In October several RCMP vehicles were torched in the region and someone claimed responsibility on an anarchist website.
https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/british-columbia/smithers-bc-rcmp-vehicles-burned-fire-1.6630421
Those tactics obviously represent a shift in this conflict.
So, I am trying to get an understanding of why they would be used and who would use them.
Of the people who were arrested up there a few have backgrounds that suggest they've been involved in direct action before and subscribe to anarchist ideas.
You appear to be one of those people.
I have no idea who was involved in those incidents in BC but that is my starting point, trying to reach those people.
Short of talking to someone who was directly involved, my hope is that you would be able to provide insight into these sort of tactics given your history in BC, at the Trump rally in Minnesota and the Enbridge action in Quebec.
To be clear, I don't do much reporting these days. I only work on special projects. My full time gig with CBC is as host of the local TV newscasts in Calgary. So, I don't have print/text examples of my work to link to. However, if it makes a difference here's a link to our latest newscasts: https://www.cbc.ca/player/news/canada/calgary
And here are some of the questions I have:
1.Were you involved in the two direct actions I referenced above?
2.If you weren't, are you able to put me in touch with who was?
3.If you were or were not...can you explain why those sort of tactics would be used?
4.In what ways would those tactics help achieve the stated goals of the Wet'suwet'en who oppose the project and have been non-violent to date?
5.Is the anarchist movement an organized movement in Canada or is it more accurate to characterize in another way? If so, how?
6.Do you know if there "anarchists" directly involved in on the ground action in Wet'suwet'en terriroty?
7.Do you think the violent tactics will continue and even after the pipeline is built?
Please consider these questions in good faith.
I have no agenda in portraying anyone in any particular light.
Like all CBC journalists I am driven by factual reporting.
Hope you're enjoying Mexico.
Rob
Wow! Where do I start here? This guy, who introduced himself as a reporter, doesn´t do much reporting these days. He´s actually the host of the Calgary news show, which means he´s a big cheese, and he only works on ¨special projects¨.
Man, this guy really knows how to make you feel special! Maybe he´ll give me a reference I can use on my resume. I´m trying to make it as a journalist, you know.
Anyway, what he´s referring to with ¨the Enbridge action in Quebec¨ is the time back in 2015 that some comrades and I shut down a pipeline. I was charged and convicted of Mischief in relation to that action, and was on probation for three years, with community service, reporting requirements, etc. Submedia did a video about it back when they were cool.
As for the Trump rally in Minnesota, basically I got myself in some trouble there right after the eviction of Standing Rock. I did attack a Trump supporter, and I´m not proud of that, because I definitely no longer believe in the ´punch-people-you-disagree-with¨ school of activism. Believe me, though, I paid a heavy price for it, and now there´s a bunch of crazy nonsense on the internet about me being some crazed Antifa maniac attacking innocent people with pepper spray and a taser, which isn´t true. I punched a guy. That´s it. And not only was I jailed for a month and extradited, I also missed Burning Man. So, lesson learned, I guess. I did get this cool picture out of it, though.
But yeah, back to Rob Brown. It´s pretty obvious from his questions where he wants to go with this. I´m an outside agitator manipulating impressionable indigenous people into wanting to defend their ancestral territory. Yeah, yeah, yeah, we´ve heard it all before.
I guess the Wet´suwet´en who launched the Delgamuukw case decades ago were being manipulated by outside agitators too. Why else would they want the fact they are a sovereign nation recognized? It´s almost like they´ve got hard feelings about the genocidal policies of the Canadian government or something. Weird. I mean, Harper, said sorry and everything. What more do they want? What´s that, you say? Control over their homeland? The right to say no to unwanted industrial projects? Free, prior, and informed consent, as per the UN declaration on the rights of indigneous people? Come, now. Let´s be reasonable. How some about some free opiates instead?
(If you don´t know what I´m referring to, yes, Canada is dispensing free opiates from vending machines. I actually did a bunch of reporting on the opiate crisis in Vancouver, and actually found one of the vending machines. You can watch the following video if you don´t believe me.)
While ýou´re at it, check out the following articles, which I think will go a long way towards explaining the hate-on I have for Canada these days, and especially for the fuckwits who call themselves journalists. I fucked my mental health for months by investigating serial killers in B.C., who have targeted indigenous women for decades. When the CBC releases their hit piece blaming anarchists for indigenous resistance, they´re going to pretend like they care about indigenous people, and we´re mentally-ill malcontents causing problems in indigenous communities or something. So just keep in mind this in mind: the CBC helped the Vancouver Police Department and the B.C. RCMP with a massive cover-up that would have revealed collaboration between those agencies and the Port Coquitlam Hell´s Angels. Don´t believe me? Read my articles, then do your own research. It´s an open secret, but you´re not going to hear it from the CBC. They also won´t tell you about how CGL is hiring members of biker gangs to patrol Wet´suwet´en territory, but to be fair, they probably don´t know about that. Maybe now that Rob and I are on a first-name basis I can feed him scoops.
Bascially, they pinned every unsolved murder on one guy, and made it illegal to report on the case for years.
So far as the t you need to know is that the CBC had information for a long time about the Hell´s Angels chop shop where bodies were being disposed of, and they didn´t report on it until after America´s Most Wanted did a story about all the women disappearing from the streets of Vancouver. And don´t even get me started on the Peter Nygard sex-trafficking ring. The CBC knew about the crimes of this serial child rapist for decades and didn´t expose him. You know who cracked the case? Chris Hansen, that dude from To Catch A Predator, the American trash TV show they made fun of on South Park.
I shit you fucking not. You can´t make this shit up. In both cases, Canadian authorities and the CBC ignored atrocities for decades until American trash T.V. shows exposed them. Look into this stuff if you don´t believe me. Canada is not the country that people think it is. If you want to be utterly disgusted and shocked by the depths of evil and depravity tolerated in Canada, listen to this Timesuck podcast about Nygard, a man who some have called the Canadian Epstein, but who actually might be worse.
Prince Andrew, by the way, was friends with both Nygard and Epstein. Prince Andrew is the brother of Canada´s head of state. Do my feelings about Canada make more sense now?
So when the CBC tries to portray anarchists as puppet-masters pulling the strings of indigenous land defenders, please keep their illustrious legacy of journalistic integrity in mind.
On another note, as I noted in a previous article:
Yeah, I´m an eco-anarchist from Ontario. So what? Are you suggesting that I don´t have a right to oppose the largest foreign investment project in Canadian history? Need I remind you that the five oil giants comprising the LNG Canada consortium are all foreign?
So it´s cool if corporations from Chian, Korea, Japan, Malaysia and Europe intervene on the Northwest Coast, but not if university students from Ontario oppose it? Could you please explain to me why this is so? Maybe I´m a little fucked-up in the head or something, because I really don´t follow your logic.
In that article, I quoted Paul Cudenec, who speaks about how the gatekeepers of the system use certain tricks to delegitimize resistance to industrialization. He explains:
If the opponents were local people living close to the proposed development, they were selfish individuals termed NIMBYs – Not In My Back Yard.
If people from further away were involved, who could not be accused of having a purely personal interest, they were dubbed “outside agitators” or “rent-a-mob troublemakers”.
In this way, no dissent could ever be seen as legitimate.
Alongside this approach came the inevitable narrative that the development was badly “needed”, providing homes for families, jobs for workers, or a “boost” for the local economy.
So, yeah, sure, your plan will result in some smuggles believing your bullshit. But it will also involve giving me free attention, which I want. Or you could drop your story, go fuck your secretary or whatever CBC bigwigs do for fun, and forget all about me. Your call.
But anyway, yeah, this should be interesting. I wrote Rob back, and told Rob that I´d answer his questions once his colleague returns the documents that I lent him when he was researching a story about my trial, which never aired.
So, yeah, Rob, I´m willing to play this game. Should be fun, just so long as you know you´re bringing a knife to a gun fight, if you ´re trying to come at me with words. You sure you want to do this?
Why you don´t you send someone to kill me instead? Violence is the state´s strong suit, remember? Hit me up if you want my home address. I´m ready to die.
Thanks for the great read! Haven't had a laugh in a while!
Those dicks are so botted, they don't even get sarcasm. I guess logic is beyond them, so sarcasm is a bit of a reach.
Regards, Justin.
A lot of that "coinciditis" going around.
I am impressed with your attorneys (I am a retired due to chronic crap I didn't do to myself attorney. I was my county's prosecutor, did criminal defense, lots of other stuff during my 30 years).
Holy...
Stunning.
Gad. Idiots and empties.
Anton, are you set up as a journalist, whatever that involves?
Because you are. And more.
Your stacks are - excellent and the reality.
Are your substacks run anywhere as articles, op eds? In the U.S.? They should be. They need to be.
I am going to reread everything this next weekend.
