I first heard it about a week ago. It's everything you said, and part of that is the delivery. It's beyond plaintive wailing! I told my band mates I want to do it, but I think we'll wait until it gets butchered by others first. I don't want to be the first. I don't know if I could put that much soul into any song. Wow.
Don't underestimate yourself! This guy has little singing/guitar experience (he says so himself). I think everyone is capable of pouring their heart out like that.
A tipping point ? Go humans! I’m a cynic as so few I come across trust themselves- so a tipping point is needed to overcome the few sicko monster puppeteers- it’s the many facilitators who rely on the $ to maintain a lifestyle that is ‘felt’ entitled to. Ugh! Main problem I see is the self centered point of view that the Humanist Era has ushered in- freaking totally disregarding that we are just a part of an amazing and complex dynamic
Ah yes I'm a cynic too, and you can tell by my preface that I was skeptical of the fanfare over this song for various reasons, however, apparently Oliver Anthony posted a video today pleading for us to take a stand, help each other out, and take action in our own lives instead of fawning over him (though he expresses immense appreciation for all the support) - which I really respect. He's right. We have to be our own heroes and help each other out in a tangible way.
