The indisputable truth I find most compelling in your essay is the following. Perhaps it is not "objective" in the narrow sense, but certainly I would call it "essential":
"We need to stop focusing on our differences and focus on what we have in common. We are all human beings, part of the Great Circle of Life, and we can choose to create a different type of reality if we so choose. If our rulers want to divide and conquer us, we should respond with a conscious effort to unify and ally ourselves with one another, on the basis of shared interest as well as altruism. This is what I can enlightened self-interest. We are happy and better off when the people around us are happy, healthy, and prosperous. Let us never forget that what we want is a more joyful world."
Hey, I appreciated this comment...Thank you for paying attention! My readership has fallen off since I started focusing more on metaphysics and Mythos. But I take comfort knowing that I'm reaching people like yourself!
Im glad you liked it. I think that a lot of activists have somewhat of a martyr complex, and believe that there is something noble about suffering in pursuit of ones ideals.
This masochism is definitely something that I understand on a deep level, possibly because I was raised Christian, and virtue and sacrifice are very intertwined in the Christ mythos. This idea of heroic suffering is compelling to me, but I would prefer to base my activism in a desire for a more joyous world... which leads one, naturally, to focus on oneself first, to create something positive within first, and then seek to extend that outwards into the world...
"I would define essence as: the defining quality of a thing, especially of an idea."
Now that reminds me of Robert Pirsig who spent his entire life trying to define "quality" and failed. Try not to walk into that trap, some things are best left undefined.
Yet all good people understand and recognise quality. But I wonder, do the illuminated evil bastards for who "truth does not matter" perceive quality the way we do?
I think that language is driven by either a ¨will to relate¨ or a will to power. In other words, the intent of communication is either to arrive at some kind of mutual understanding, or it is to obtain a desired result (consciously or subconsciously). And this is why intention matters so much in communication... A debate in good faith is completely different from a bad faith debate. One is cooperative and the other is not. I think that a lot of well-intentioned people waste a lot of energy engaging with people who arent really trying to arrive at mutual understanding.
Wow..that’s a lot of words saying “not to much” reminds me of my psych days 60 yrs ago...I think I’m on the wrong bus🤓
Fair enough. I appreciate your input. Im sure that I could have said the same thing in less words. Do you mind if I ask what you mean by ¨psych days¨?

I think that this is the Buddhist perspective.
