Thanks so much for sharing this history. This and the previous chapter by Harris are the most enlightening thing I have ever read on the subject (and I've read quite a bit). So much that was previously obscure and impenetrable begins to make perfect sense. If I ever go back and read the gospels, I will read them with new eyes!
I have no doubt that Jesus was a warrior-king. The scriptures say so, "Sell your scrip and buy a sword." and the whipping of the merchants at the temple aren't acts of a peaceful teacher.
Then there was the racial undertones with the Samaritans, the Greeks, the Syrians, the Romans.
