As governments around the world work overtime to further restrict our rights and strip us of our humanity, it’s more important than ever to find ways to be more self-reliant. Whether it be seeking out an intentional community, or learning how to garden in a small space, I believe there are things (big or small) each one of us can do to empower ourselves.
The purpose of this thread is to share resources on becoming more self-reliant. There are many groups around the world that are actually walking the walk and helping people do just that. The Lifeboat Academy (in BC, Canada) and the Freedom Cell Network are just two examples.
If you have anything to share, please share it here.
What resources are out there for people who want to take control back over their lives, but who otherwise feel helpless?Do you have tips for finding land? Websites, forums, workshops, groups, etc? Tips for finding alternative ways of living on a budget? And anything else related to being more self-reliant.
Eventually it would be nice to compile all of these resources into an easily digestible document and share it with others (so long as everyone is OK with it).
I’ll be keeping this thread open indefinitely.

Ooh, interesting - thanks. There are a lot of valid reasons why people are against solar, but what are your qualms about it, if you're willing to share?

Thanks for sharing these! I will add them to the list. Good to see permies on there, too.
I haven't heard of the concept of 'appropriate technology' before, but it's so obvious and makes a lot of sense.
BTW - Have you heard of this guy, Aaron: https://123homefree.org/
He travels with goats and sheep and does guerrilla grazing. He's very innovative. I've learned a lot from him from his YouTube channel.
